KAMPALA UGANDA: 30 APRIL 2026- A powerful shift is happening in Uganda’s economic landscape as the GROW Project champions a fundamental truth: a woman’s decision-making power is a catalyst for national progress. By putting women at the center of business leadership, the initiative is proving that empowering one individual can strengthen entire communities.
The Power of Choice
The GROW Project—an acronym for Generating Growth Opportunities and Productivity for Women Enterprises—operates on the belief that “Her Decisions Matter.” The initiative highlights that when women are empowered to lead:Businesses are shaped with resilience and innovation, Families are strengthened through increased financial stability, and The future is built on a foundation of inclusive economic growth.
The campaign’s message is clear: “When women decide, we all grow.” This philosophy underscores the project’s commitment to moving beyond simple participation and toward true leadership for women in every sector—from marketplaces to technical industries.
This transformative work is a result of a strategic partnership between the Government of Uganda and international development leaders. The project is implemented by the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development alongside the Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU).
With significant backing from The World Bank, the project is scaling up its efforts to ensure women-owned enterprises are not just surviving, but are becoming more: Numerous: Encouraging more women to enter the entrepreneurial space, Productive: Optimizing output and efficiency, and Competitive: Enabling women to compete in both local and international markets.
