7 frontline workers have tested positive for COVID-19 in Lira District Uganda, the Ministry of Health has reported.
The confirmed cases are 3 nurses, 2 doctors and 2 senior level staff members.
“The confirmed cases have all been admitted to Entebbe Grade B and Mulago specialized Hospitals and are in stable condition” the statement from the Ministry of Health says.
MOH says a team of health experts specialized in infection, prevention and control IPC, Case Management and Psychosocial management are currently in various places where health workers tested positive to evaluate the response and investigate what could have led to the unfortunate infection of health workers.
The total number of confirmed cases in Uganda is at 417, 287 are admitted in referral hospitals in the country and all are in stable condition.
Minister of state for Health for general duties Hon. Robinah Nabbanja said the infection may have been due to improper use of protective gear since all medical workers are given the same.
Uganda has a total of 72 COVID-19 recoveries and no COVID-19 related death.
