The heavy rains the region is experiencing have caused landslides at Pindura in Nyungwe forest, in the southwestern part of the country, blocking Nyamagabe- Nyamasheke-Rusizi road, authorities reported on Sunday.

Nyungwe forest is located in southwestern Rwanda on the border with Burundi. No fatalities have been reported, but travelers have been advised to use Muhanga-Karongi road as efforts to clear the road are ongoing.

Floods were also reported on Saturday when the levee at Nyabarongo river broke causing flooding that made the road Muhanga – Ngororero – Mukamira impassable.
