A yet-to-be identified young man was shot by an LDU officer on night patrol as end of the year celebrations went on around Kampala City on 31st December. The deceased, is suspected to be a thief and said to have been part of a criminal gang terrorizing areas of Lubaga and Kawempe.
An eye witness said the LDU’s pursued a gang around Chez Johnson Hotel Nakulabye, before the young man was cornered and forced to surrender.
However, the LDU officer went ahead and shot the suspect twice in the chest killing him instantly. The bodyof the deceased was later taken to Mulago Hospital for postmortem. Efforts to reach Maj. Biral Katamba, the First Division Spokesperson for a comment were futile as our phone calls remain unanswered
