BUKOMERO, KIBOGA: 02 October 2026— Police in Kiboga District have launched a manhunt for a man who allegedly hacked his 42-year-old partner to death following a domestic dispute early Friday morning.
The deceased, identified as Annet Namusoke, was killed at around 5:00 AM in Kakunyu B Cell, Kakunyu Ward, Bukomero Town Council. According to police reports, Namusoke was fatally assaulted by her partner, known only as Mustafa, with whom she had cohabited for two years.
Neighbors reported that the couple’s relationship had a long history of domestic violence.
Following the attack, local resident Matovu Sayiga Ali reported the incident to Bukomero Police Station. A homicide investigation team, led by the Kiboga District Deputy Criminal Investigations Officer (CID), responded to the scene shortly after.
Investigating officers found Namusoke’s body lying in a pool of blood. Forensic teams profiled and documented the scene, recovering a blood-stained axe suspected to be the murder weapon. Witnesses have since provided formal statements to assist with the investigation.
Police attempted to deploy a sniffer dog to track the suspect, but officers noted that the canine’s effectiveness was severely compromised after local onlookers crowded and tampered with the crime scene.
Namusoke’s body was conveyed to Kiboga Hospital for a postmortem examination while search operations for Mustafa remain ongoing.
Lameck Kigozi, Senior Superintendent of Police and Public Relations Officer for the Wamala Region, urged the public to protect crime scenes to prevent the loss of critical evidence and encouraged couples experiencing conflicts to seek peaceful resolution channels.
”We appeal to people to always desist from tampering with scenes of crime to avoid contamination,” SSP Kigozi stated, adding that couples should seek proper mediation avenues to de-escalate domestic violence.
