A total of 56 candidates so far remain unopposed as the highly anticipated elections for the Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) Assembly draws closer.
This follows a successful completion of nominations for candidates from Regional Football Associations (RFAs), National Leagues and Special Interest Groups (SIGs) to the FUFA Assembly. The latest nomination exercise saw 41 candidates for RFAs and 15 candidates for SIGs, emerge unopposed.
In a circular issued by FIFA on 28th April 2025, the following (15) candidates were duly nominated for SIGs, and their positions to represent associations were still uncontested;
-UFRA -Kalema Ronnie, Rwamuyamba Rose Bell and Miiro Brian Nsubuga.
UBSA -Deo Mutabazi and Tumwesigye Anthony.
UFCA -Kyambadde-Stone Ndibassa and Anyau Frank.
UYFA -Kiwanuka Roberts and Kabugo Mansoor.
USFA -Mugisha Justus and Ayub Khalifa Kiyingi.
FUTSAL FAU -Jjunju Hamza and Abubaker Kakule Mayanja.
UFPA -Mukisa Paul Ssali and Tamale Fred.
On the other hand, Tibingi Margaret Fatia, Dr Taibu Azar, and Florence Nkalubo Bagunywa were also duly nominated to contest for the two slots to represent Uganda Women Football Association (UWFA) at the FUFA Assembly.
According to the FUFA Elections Committee Chairman, Mr Bwire Mathias, only duly nominated candidates shall be eligible to be elected for the respective positions on 30th April 2025 at FUFA complex Mengo.
However, the incumbent FUFA president, Hon Moses Hassim Magogo, is poised for another term at the top leadership of Ugandan Football following several endorsements from different regions of Uganda to have him as a sole candidate for the office in the upcoming elections.
