Russian president Vladimir Putin says he has sent his condolences to the family of Yevgeny Prigozhin, the Wagner Group leader who was presumed killed in a plane crash yesterday.
In a statement he read in camera, Putin said Prigozhin was a talented businessman who he had known since the 1990s.
According to the statement, Putin says Prigozhin was a man of difficult fate, but talented. The condolences come amid speculation that Prigozhin could have been assassinated.

The private jet in which Prigozhin perished was flying from Moscow to St. Petersburg with seven passengers and three crew members. No one survived the crash.
