The political season is here and the period presents an opportunity for new leaders to emerge and take up the responsibility of forging a future for Uganda, but also offers voters a once-in-five years opportunity, to shuffle the leadership in search for better choices.

A hopeful Member of Parliament from Igara West has already thrown his hat into the arena of politics. He calls himself “Hon. Gwangamujje” and his eyes are on Igara West Constituency, in Bushenyi District. Currently, Igara West constituency is represented by Hon Mbwa Tekamwa who has since publicly declared that he won’t seek re-election there, giving Hon Gwangamujje the right to brag how he has “chased the Mbwa” from Igara West.

Nimwesiga Dan Mbaasa prides in being a Voice to the voiceless and his slogan is; ‘Ntuma nyoowe, nkuhukkize ebyawe’

A jolly gentleman still in youthful age is not short of words; and he was quick to share his aspirations highlighting his passion for empowering the Youths, the Elderly, as well as Men and Women in the Igara west Community.

He had finished picking nomination forms to contest on the National Resistance Movement (NRM) ticket in 2026, when we caught up with him.

“Beloved Ugandans and specifically the residents in Igara West Constituency, I am extremely honored and humbled to share with you my brief biography and political manifesto” he noted while loosening of his crimson necktie hanging on a yellow NRM branded shirt.

WHO ARE YOU?

“I am NIMWESIGA DAN MBASA a.k.a GGWANGA MUJJE I have already chased Hon Mbwa and I am the next MP for Igara West.”

And he continues…

I was born and raised in Igara West Constituency by Mr & Mrs Richard Mbasa on 16th of Feb 1987 (38yrs of age) in the village of Rubuzagye, in Kabingo Parish, Kyamuhunga Sub-County in Bushenyi District. I am a dedicated and experienced leader right from my school time to date, and a family person who understands the importance of community and the need for effective representation.

NIMWESIGA’S EDUCATION JOURNEY:

Pursuing a Master’s Degree in Human nature at Cavendish University, Nimwesiga Dan Mbaasa holds a Bachelor’s degree of Human Resource mgt from Ndejje University, and a Diploma in legal mgt-LDC( Makerere University). He completed A-level education at Angle High School-Namasuba but previously attended O-level classes at Bushenyi Pioneer High School, and received primary level education from Butinde and Kashozi Primary School where he received UCE and PLE certificates.

WORK & LIFE EXPERIENCE:
Preferring his career to be described as that of a hustler, Gwangamujje’s life journey is impressive having taken bigger responsibilities at an early age. This, he says has shaped him into an astute entrepreneur and leader with indisputable experience;

-Worked as a Manager at Prime Gold partners Ltd (PGP),
– Equity & Asset Officer, Tisha Agencies Ltd,
– General Sales Manager Kubera Motor sales,
– PLU Ambassador and National coordinator,
– Finance Advisor Golden Heart Members Union- Uganda,
– Finance and Administration Manager, Community development Association-Busabala,
– Marketing personnel, African Concrete Industries Ltd-Kaga.

MANIFESTO:

As your aspiring area MP, my mission is to bridge the literacy gap, empower youth, men women across board and promote economic growth & transformation, improve and sustain developed infrastructure in line with NRM ideologies in Bushenyi District.

Our camp is committed to:

– Fighting corruption right from grassroot to the top by ensuring corporate management standards are followed at all times.

– Improving access to quality education & healthcare.

– Supporting Youth, adults and the elderly men& Women economic empowerment through entrepreneurship and skilling projects.

– Promote youth engagement and participation in community development projects through creation of Igara west Youth Fund.

– Fostering a culture of transparency, accountability, and good governance in Bushenyi District.

– Creating the elderly fund to ensure our parents who are 80yrs & above do not suffer or lack food and accommodation especially when they lose their active children.

I believe that every individual deserves equal opportunities to thrive, and I’m dedicated to making sure that the people of Bushenyi District -regardless of gender or status, have a chance to utilize their potential to thrive.

I look forward to engaging with you further and exploring more modalities on how best we can work together to building a brighter future for our community free from economic imbalances, corruption and tribalistic tendencies. Uganda for all of us.

For the people of Igara West, we have been actively lobbying for a lasting solution for Tea price fluctuations, Ensure Electricity is extended to every home in Igara west, Ensure that most Roads are fixed to ease product movement to markets, and ensure that Health centres are up and working well.

“I therefore humbly ask you to embrace my candidacy and vote NIMWESIGA DAN MBASA a.k.a GGWANGA MUJJE.
Best regards to you all. For God and My country.”
