Joint Intelligence Forces in Uganda have today confirmed that a notorious group of Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) terrorists, infiltrated into the country.
According to a statement issued today by the army, the terror elements who entered Uganda from DRC two days ago, are on a revenge mission, following intensified UPDF operations against ADF. The military operations include those mounted last year in western Uganda, which led to the killing of a one Kamusi and the capture of Njovu both believed to be ADF commanders.
“Joint Intelligence Forces have now confirmed that two days ago, another group have infiltrated the country with the same mission.” Col. Akiiki the Deputy spokesperson for Ministry of Defense/UPDF stated.
The group which entered Uganda, according to Col. Deo Akiiki, is led by a notorious ADF commander Ahamed Muhamood Hassan a.k.a Abu Waqas – a Tanzanian born Bomb expert. Others in the group include Muhammad Issa, Amigo Kibirige a.k.a Simba, Muhammad Lumisa, Nasser Hamid Diiru and one of these has been sent for this mission.
According to Col. Deo Akiiki, the revenge acts by ADF are also occasioned by “sustained military operations by UPDF and Congolese army FARDC in Congo under Operation Shujaa, and strategic airstrikes in Eastern DRC.
The army spokesperson says other sister security agencies have already been informed and are on alert, and as always done, will continue working together to protect Ugandans.
“It is simply suicidal for these terrorists to continue making terrorism adventures into Uganda” he said.
The army says, having been hit hard in areas of Kamanda inside DRC, ADF has since gone on rampage killing civilians in areas far from where UPDF and Congolese forces operate.
The statement from the army also hints on a plan currently before the heads of governments of Uganda and DRC, to have LDU’s deployed in the areas affected by ADF attacks.
