Kawempe North MP Muhammad Segirinya who is currently receiving treatment in Netherlands says he is now safe after NUP president Robert Kyagulanyi undertook to pay all his medical bills.
Over the weekend, Segirinya’s health became a serious concern when the legislator said he had been diagnosed with skin cancer, but also expressed the inability to pay medical bills which had accumulated to 80million.
Segirinya also cried out to well-wishers for help claiming he had been abandoned by Parliament yet he is entitled to medical support. This claim however turned to be false after Parliament and LoP’s office clarified that Segirinya had not followed due procedure for obtaining medical support from Parliament.
In a new video, Segirinya now says all is well; thanks to his party NUP and it’s president, Robert Kyagulanyi.
“My voters, I want to inform you that the matter which has been haunting me has been sorted.. My president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu will meet all medical bills.” A visibly weak Segirinya says in a video.
Speaking from a hospital bed at Amsterdam University Medical Center, Segirinya appreciated the LoP Mathias Mpuuga, NUP secretary general Lewis Lubongoya, members of NUP Diaspora and fellow MPs who helped him to secure the much-needed funds.
He said no one should be worried that he may end up cleaning hospital rooms and bedsheets, to clear the bills.
In the audio recorded over the weekend, Segirinya intimated that he had been diagnosed with skin cancer, virus-infected lungs, and liver problems. He expressed fear that he may die soon if the prescribed treatment is not administered including removing 2 bad tissues from his liver.
Now that funding is assured, Segirinya said he was going for a bone-marrow surgical operation after which he will undergo another operation to extract viruses from his lungs. Speaking from doctors assurance, he said he hopes to be in hospital for two months.
I wish Honourable Ssegirinya a quick recovery
