Should he win the presidency, Kenyan presidential candidate Professor George Wajackoyah said he will introduce the death penalty for men who will be found guilty of abusing their wives.

While campaigning in Kirinyaga on Sunday, the presidential hopeful said, as a punishment and to discourage violence meted by men against women, his government will hang men who dare slap their wives.

“Akina mama, mimi nawaambia akina mama. Mwanamume yeyote ambaye atachapa mama atanyongwa,” Professor Wajackoyah said.

Apart from abusive women, the learned politician had initially said he would reintroduce capital punishment for corruption offenders through constitutional review, should he be elected to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in the August polls.

During the Sunday, June 12 rally, Wajackoyah, whose campaign slogan is Tingiza Miti which literally means to shake the trees, said he will also improve the lives of police and the army. He noted that he was a policeman before and so he understands their predicament.

In February this year, the renowned lawyer and professor, says he will legalize the farming and harvesting of marijuana as a way of restoring the devastated Kenyan economy if elected the country’s President.

During the launch of his presidential bid in February, Wajackoyah vowed to legalize the farming and harvesting of marijuana as a way of restoring the devastated Kenyan economy if elected the country’s President.

He argued that the only thing that can pull the country out of what he described as chocking debts and ensure that we are having a 24 hour economy, is through investing in marijuana farming.

On Sunday, he promised to buy each policeman a car and house so that they do not solicit bribes from people. He also pledged to improve their salaries. The 61-year-old academician said his main aim will be to ensure people have money in their pockets and are happy.

The presidential hopeful also promised to boost snake farming to help offset China’s loans as they are the main eaters of the reptile.
