A High Court Judge, Hon Justice Gadenya Paul Walimbwa has been involved in a nasty accident along Gulu Highway.
The judge was reportedly travelling to Masindi High Court when his official car UG 0781J had a head-on collision with another car registration number UBH 831A leaving the car destroyed.
The Public Relations Officer for the Judiciary, Mr. Jameson Karemani Karemera, has since confirmed that justice Gadenya was travelling to work when the accident happened. The accident happened in Bigando-Masindi only 3 km to Masindi town.
Karemani described the judge’s medical condition as “not good”.
“He was travelling from Kampala going to work. He was left with a short distance to town and that could have made him loosen the seat belt since the impact of the accident was big. We are working towards to evacuating him by airlifting him to Kampala,” he said.
The army spokesperson Brig. Gen. Flavia Byekwaso said the UPDF Air Force has dispatched a Helicopter to evacuate the resident district judge and other victims who are currently receiving treatment at Kitara Medical Centre in Masindi District to Nakasero Hospital in Kampala.
Police say they are still investigating the cause of the accident.
Reports indicate that the driver of the judge and his bodyguard did not sustain fatal injuries but the judge needs prayers.
At the time of the accident, the judge was travelling to Masindi High Court for duty.
Hon. Justice Gadenya was early this year appointed on promotion to judge High Court by the President Yoweri Museveni. At the function, the Chief Justice Bart Katureebe commended Justice Gadenya for his “tremendous work” as Chief Registrar.
