NRM delegates attending the party National Conference at Namboole have openly called for the sacking of their party Secretary General -Justine Kasule Lumumba blaming her for not delivering to their expectations.

The delegates’ call was made to President Museveni during the NRM National Delegates Conference held today at Namboole Stadium. Museveni is the NRM National Chairperson.

During the event, the delegates interrupted Lumumba’s speech with incessant heckling, until President Museveni saved her from the embarrassment when he called for calm and promised to give audience to the aggrieved delegates as a measure calm the escalating tempers.

But when the aggrieved delegates were allowed to speak their heart before the congregation, the District NRM Youth league Chairperson for Serere District, a one Anne Georgina spilled the beans and pleaded for Kasule’s axing due to failure to deliver results for NRM party.

“When you marry and the wife keeps on getting miscarriages, you summon a clan to seek way forward: We as a clan we request you to let us marry another wife who can produce children for us” Georgina said.

“As a herdsman, if your cow is not producing milk properly, you know what to do” she added attracting applause from delegates.

In response President Museveni pledged to conduct an assessment on the performance of Hon. Justine Kasule Lumumba, before he takes action. The NRM constitution gives Party Chairperson Powers to appoint and sack the Secretary General. Earlier on, another delegate who had rose to present his position on the motion to amend NRM constitution, also expressed need to have an elected SG saying Lumumba disrespects party leaders and only confines in loyalty to the appointing authority.

“I will see this wife who has been having miscarriages, i will check whether the medical can help and we shall see what we can do” Museveni said.

Earlier on, president Museveni had hinted on how he had been briefed by Lumumba on logistical flaws the organizing committee made during accreditation of delegates and guests to the conference, which led to the disgruntlement including some of them missing out on meals, NRM shirts and identification tags.

According to NRM Senior Communications officer Rogers Mulindwa, the attempt to interrupt the speech of Justine Kasule Lumumba was plotted by individuals well known to the secretariat, and meant to embarrass Lumumba before Museveni and the Foreign Delegations. Mulindwa says they were not surprise by what happened.

In her report to the conference, Justine Kasule Lumumba highlighted several achievements registered under her reign including massive victories by the NRM in 2016 General Elections at all levels, but called on government officials to enhance the NRM development strategy at grassroots, and to be more meaningful to the voters.

She appealed to delegates to religiously undertake individual roles as prescribed in the party constitution, and to commit to the ideology and aspirations of NRM.

Hon. Kasule Lumumba regretted and apologized for mishaps in the organization of the conference saying some of the flaws that have happened were beyond the capacity of organizers.
