The opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has announced a mega event that will unveil a plan which will guide party activities that will finally end National Resistance Movement (NRM)’s 35 year rule.
According to FDC party spokesperson Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda, on 16th December, the party will unveil a robust programme that will guide the “final push against the dictator and the dictatorship.”
The “plan” according to Hon. Ssemujju will be unveiled at a meeting of over 10,000 FDC leaders and members from all over the country, scheduled to take place at Mandela National Stadium in Kiira Municipality, Wakiso District. At the ceremony, FDC will host politicians invited from political parties across Africa, to commemorate 15 years of FDC as a political party in Uganda.
Hon. Ssemujju also announced that FDC has summoned an emergency high level meeting for National Executive Committee (NEC) members this Friday to discuss the next course of action the party will take against the brutality unleashed at party members by police.
He said, a decision will be taken against police officers who were involved in the recent brutal confrontations between Dr. Kiiza Besigye and members of the FDC Women’s league on 4th and 6th November in Kampala following a botched FDC party meeting in Kiira Municipality.
He said the party has identified individual police officers who brutalized FDC women, and undertook the operation that almost ended Dr. Besigye’s life.
On 4th November, police used teargas and water canon to stop and arrest Dr. Kiiza Besigye along Kireka in Wakiso District following a botched FDC party meeting that police cancelled on grounds of non-compliance with the law. In the process, Dr. Besigye almost fell off his vehicle when he was hit by a strong steam of water.
