The health condition of Mityana Municipality MP Hon. Butebi Francis Zaake has deteriorated prompting doctors to refer him to Nsambya Hospital.
According to a hospital report this website saw, Zaake developed severe eye disorders since he was admitted to Iran-Uganda Hospital last week where he has been receiving treatment.
According to Dr. Fred Kato Edmond, Zaake’s condition has not changed prompting management to refer him to Nsambya Hospital for ophthalmologist review.
The report shows the purpose of referral as “due to failure to open eyes despite a week on treatment.”
It also indicates that Zaake has had severe body pain ever since he was arrested two weeks ago.
Last week, Uganda Police issued a statement implying that Hon. Zaake’s condition was stable, having admitted to hospital after he complained of ill health in their custody just before he was going to be arraigned before court.

Doctors say upon admission, it was reported that the legislator was handcuffed and tied with ropes on both hands and legs, and laboratory investigations indicate “blunt force trauma and chemical conjunctivitis.”
Zaake was arrested by security operatives from his home on 19th April 2020 after he was found distributing food to his voters contrary to presidential directives meant to combat the spread of coronavirus in Uganda.
