The catholic priest who was arrested today for disobeying the presidential directive to suspend religious gatherings due to the coronavirus threat has been released.
Msgr. Gerald Karumba was arrested by police after he was found celebrating mass at Christ the King catholic church in Kampala, despite the president’s directive of 32 days-suspension of public gatherings made last week on Wednesday.
Kalumba pleaded that he had few congregants in the church.
Deputy spokesperson Kampala Metropolitan Police Patrick Onyango said Msgr. Kalumba was cautioned and released together with the people he was leading in a morning mass.
