Kampala, March 6, 2025 – A tragic road crash at Mayanja Valley along the Kampala-Bombo Road has claimed the lives of five people and left 21 others injured.
The accident occurred on the night of March 5, 2025, when a Fuso Super Grande truck (registration UBK 769A), traveling from Kampala to Bombo, lost control while descending a slope at Mayanja Valley. The truck collided with nine other vehicles and a motorcycle, leading to the devastating loss of life and multiple injuries.
Among the victims, five occupants of the affected vehicles and the motorcycle rider died instantly. The injured passengers, most of whom were traveling in Toyota Hiace taxis, were rushed to Mulago Hospital for emergency treatment. The bodies of the deceased were taken to Mulago City Mortuary for post-mortem examinations.
The Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety has launched an investigation into the crash. The wrecked vehicles have been towed to Kawempe Police Station for further inspection.
In a statement, SP Kananura Michael from the Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety urged motorists to observe road safety measures, including proper vehicle maintenance, adherence to speed limits, and defensive driving, to prevent such tragic incidents.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation as investigations proceed.
