The Chief of Defense Forces of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF), Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba today met with his Algerian counterpart, General Saïd Chanegriha, and discussed military cooperation & bilateral ties.
Gen Kainerugaba who is in Algeria was received with full military honors at the country’s Military Headquarters in Algiers. This visit is part of Gen Kainerugaba’s efforts to strengthen military ties with various countries.
The Ugandan CDF is accompanied by top UPDF Generals, including Maj Gen James Birungi, the Chief of Defense Intelligence and Security, Maj Gen Bob Ogiki, Joint Staff Policy and Strategy, and Maj Gen Keith Katungi, the 5th Division Infantry Commander.
Top military chiefs from several Algerian military branches attended the meeting in which the two military bosses held discussions focused on areas of mutual interest and cooperation between the UPDF and the Algerian military.
In particular, the CDF and his counterpart discussed the upcoming signing of a comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the UPDF and the National People’s Army of Algeria.
Since his appointment as CDF, the Ugandan General has held several meetings with counterparts from all regions of Africa and beyond.
