JINJA, UGANDA: 02 September 2026— The Busoga Kingdom has expressed profound shock and grief following the untimely passing of His Majesty King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, the Omukama of Tooro.
In an official condolence message issued on Friday, August 28, 2026, the Katukiro (Prime Minister) of Busoga, Owek. Dr. Joseph Muvawala Ekisengeddhe, conveyed the deep sympathy of His Majesty Isebantu Kyabazinga William Wilberforce Kadhumbula Gabula Nadiope IV and the entire Busoga nation to the Royal Family and the people of Tooro.
Describing the late monarch as a “beacon of hope for the young generation,” Dr. Muvawala highlighted Omukama Oyo’s unique role as a bridge between tradition and modern development across Uganda’s cultural institutions.
In tribute to the Late Omukama, and to express solidarity with the Kingdom of Tooro, Busoga Kingdom also announced postponement of this year’s coronation anniversary for Isebantu Kyabazinga Gabula Nadiope IV.
“I wish to inform all the subjects of His Majesty Isebantu Kyabazinga and the general public that the 12th Coronation Anniversary celebrations, originally scheduled for 13th September 2026, have been postponed to Saturday, 19th September 2026, at the Mayuge District Headquarters Grounds.” Adding;
This decision has been made to honour and enable all Ugandans to attend the burial of the fallen monarch of Tooro, Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, which will coincide with the 12th Coronation Anniversary celebrations of the Isebantu Kyabazinga of Busoga.”
