KAMPALA, Uganda: 07 August 2026— Two employees of media conglomerate Next Media Services Ltd. have tragically lost their lives following a severe road accident along Entebbe Road in the early hours of Friday, August 7, 2026.
A third staff member sustained severe injuries and is currently fighting for his life in intensive care.
In an official corporate statement released on Friday, Next Media management confirmed the names of the three staff members involved in the crash: Badru Kasirye, Isaac Ndamagye, and Brian “Makona” Ssemanda.
According to the management, Kasirye and Ndamagye succumbed to injuries sustained during the collision, sending shockwaves across the media industry.
”Badru Kasirye and Isaac Ndamagye unfortunately lost their lives in the accident. Brian ‘Makona’ Ssemanda is in the Intensive Care Unit receiving treatment, under close watch from his medical team,” the statement reads in part.
The crash occurred today, 7 August 2026, at about 2:00 a.m., at Namulanda, near Stabex along Entebbe Road. It involved motor vehicles UA 779DE, Toyota Allex, and UAS 976W, Toyota Hilux.
Preliminary investigations by police indicate that the driver of the Toyota Hilux, registration number UAS 976W, which was travelling from Entebbe towards Kampala, allegedly lost control and drifted into the opposite lane while approaching the Stabex area at Namulanda. The vehicle subsequently collided head-on with the oncoming Toyota Allex, registration number UA 779DE in which the journalists were traveling.
As a result of the collision, Badru Kasirye and Isaac Ndamagye died at the scene, while Brian Makona sustained injuries and was rushed to hospital for medical treatment.
In a statement, Police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke said the exact circumstances and cause of the crash remain under investigation and further details will be communicated as soon as the inquiries are concluded.
Next Media noted that company leadership remains in direct contact with the medical team attending to Ssemanda to monitor his condition, promising to release further updates as verified details become available.
The media house extended its deepest condolences to the affected families and appealed to the public and media fraternity to extend privacy to the grieving families during this difficult period.
”We ask for privacy for the families, and for Brian and his family, as he continues treatment. Updates will follow as they are confirmed,” Management added.
