The directive, issued in a press release dated June 15, 2026, by the Director General of Health Services, Prof. Charles Olaro, aims to clear up growing misconceptions among travelers, travel agents, and recruitment agencies.

According to health officials, Ebola testing in the country remains strictly tied to national public health guidelines rather than routine travel clearance.

”Testing is only recommended for individuals who develop symptoms consistent with Ebola Virus Disease or those who are identified as contacts of confirmed Ebola cases, based on a clinical and epidemiological assessment by health authorities,” Prof. Olaro stated.

Public Warned Against Scams

In light of the clarification, the Ministry issued a strong warning to the public regarding fraudulent schemes. Travelers and job seekers have been urged to remain vigilant against scammers attempting to sell fake Ebola tests or certificates under the guise of facilitating travel, employment, or visa processing.

How to Report Suspected Cases

The Ministry of Health reiterated that public vigilance remains crucial in managing health protocols. Members of the public can report any suspected cases of Ebola through the following official channels:

  • Toll-Free Hotline: 0800-100-066
  • SMS Alert: 6767
  • U-Report: 8500
