KAMPALA, UGANDA: 16 April 2026– The Government of Uganda, in a strategic partnership with the Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) and the World Bank, supports the “GROW Project”—a nationwide initiative designed to fundamentally reshape the landscape for female entrepreneurs.
The project, which stands for Generating Growth Opportunities and Productivity for Women Enterprises, seeks to increase the number, productivity, and competitiveness of women-owned businesses across the country.
A Call for Cultural Shift
Beyond financial and technical support, the GROW Project is launching a powerful social campaign aimed at the domestic and community level. The initiative emphasizes that the economic empowerment of women is not a solitary journey but a collective effort.
Key messaging from the project highlights a central theme: “A stronger family starts with shared respect.” By encouraging men and community leaders to support women’s ideas and decisions, the project aims to create a ripple effect that strengthens families, businesses, and entire communities.

Strategic Implementation
The project is being implemented through a multi-agency approach:Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development: Overseeing the social and governmental policy framework, Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU): Providing the business expertise and private sector integration, and The World Bank: Providing the vital financial and international backing required for nationwide scaling.
