President Yoweri Museveni who is also the national chairman of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party, issued a special announcement on Saturday, urging NRM members to embrace party electoral activities to elect new grassroot structures due next week.
The announcement posted on social media reads thus:
𝐈𝐌𝐏𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐀𝐍𝐓 𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐂𝐄𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐅𝐑𝐎𝐌 𝐇.𝐄. 𝐘𝐎𝐖𝐄𝐑𝐈 𝐊. 𝐌𝐔𝐒𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐍𝐈 – 𝐒𝐒𝐀𝐀𝐁𝐀𝐋𝐖𝐀𝐍𝐘𝐈
I am alerting and requesting all NRM members to report to their respective village centres by 10:00 AM on Tuesday, 6th May 2025, to participate in two key activities:
1. 𝑉𝑒𝑟𝑖𝑓𝑖𝑐𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑜𝑓 𝑁𝑅𝑀 𝑀𝑒𝑚𝑏𝑒𝑟𝑠
Participate in a baraza (public meeting) to verify those registered in the NRM party register at the village level.
2. Election of NRM LCI Flagbearers & Village Structures
Elect: The NRM LCI flag-bearers for the position of LCI Chairperson
The village-level NRM structures
Please note:
Both the verification and election processes will strictly take place between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM.
The NRM Electoral Commission will issue further details to guide this important exercise.
I will personally participate in the register verification exercise in Rwakitura village and Maama (The First Lady) will do the same in Ntungamo – Ireenga village.
As the NRM National Chairman, I will not line up behind any candidate, because I must remain neutral and respect the free choice of our party members. I welcome and support whoever the members choose.
