The joint armed forces of Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo in the ongoing “Operation Shujaa,” captured a commander of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) terrorist group, by the name of Anywari Al Iraq -an expert in improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
According to the Public Information Officer for Operation Shujaa, Major Bilal Katamba, Anywari Al Iraq was captured during the latest operations in the jungles of Eastern DR. Congo.
Major Katamba stated that Anywari also known as AA is a born of Busia district in Eastern Uganda.
During the operation, one sub-machine gun (SMG), 45 rounds of ammunition, 03 walkie-talkies, 01 RPG charger, and an assortment of improvised explosive device (IED) making materials were recovered.
‘Relatedly, four (04) children and five (05) women were rescued in Ituri province in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. The rescued children and women are receiving basic medical attention as arrangements are underway to transfer them to a better medical facility.” Major Katamba stated.
He noted that the joint forces continue to pursue the ADF terrorists from all directions in their areas of operation.
