President Yoweri Museveni has directed that the deceased former head of Public Service and Secretary to Cabinet John Mitala should be accorded official burial.
Mitala who is the longest serving minister of Public Service died on Friday December 23, at the gate of Masaka Regional Referral Hospital 2022 after serving in that portifolio for two decades.
In a communique issued by the spokesperson for Government of Uganda Media Center Ofwono Opondo, the state has taken over the burial and a national organization committee chaired by the minister for presidency Hon Milly Babalanda has been constituted to handle the events and gun salute will also be accorded to the John Mitala.
The deceased John Mitala will be buried on Tuesday December 27, in Kamwokya Kalungu District after a church service for the funeral at midday.
Before that, the body will leave Masaka Funeral Home today and will be taken to the family house in Kamwokya Kalungu district. Later today, a church service will be held at his home followed by an overnight vigil.
At the time of his death, Mitala was also serving as a senior presidential advisor on Public Service matters but he also served at regional and continental levels.
