A fatal accident which happened along Kampala-Jinja highway on Saturday left 4 people dead and another one seriously injured.
According to police, the accident which happened at Najjembe Trading Center in Buikwe District involved a TATA lorry registration number UAX 660C and a commuter taxi.
Police stated that 5 pedestrians were knocked by the lorry which was heading towards Kampala from Jinja killing 4 on spot. The lorry, police says, tried to dodge the taxi which was overtaking and in the process knocked the victims.
The victims have been identified as Akumu Faith a female aged 23 years and a resident of Nsakya Zone, Najjembe Division in Buikwe District, Anyango Rose a resident of Najjembe, and 2 juveniles one aged 14 years and another one named Awori Promise (aged 1 year 8 months) both residents of Najjembe.
The injured has been identified as Ojara Eric a juvenile aged 8 years.
The bodies of the deceased have been taken to Kawolo Hospital mortuary for postmortem.
