Somalia on Monday announced it has cut diplomatic ties with Kenya, accusing her neighbor for constant violation of its sovereignty.
Somalia Minister of Information Osman Abukar Dubbe announced cutting ties with Kenya at around 1:40 am Mogadishu time on state-run SNTV and also ordered Kenyan diplomats to leave the country within seven days.
The announcement comes just hours after President Uhuru held talks with break-away Somaliland President Muse Bihi at Statehouse, Nairobi. Somaliland President Muse Bihi arrived in Kenya on December 13, for a three-day state visit.
Authorities from the north-eastern African country ravaged by wars, decided to officially cut diplomatic ties with Kenya because of Kenya’s frequent ‘interference’ with her politics and always wanting to create problems in Somalia.
Mogadishu says it will withdraw all its diplomats from Kenya.
Somalia and Somaliland on Monday, December 14, engaged in a war of words with Mogadishu accusing Hargeisa of undermining its sovereignty after a delegation led by President Muse Bihi met President Uhuru Kenyatta at Nairobi’s statehouse.
