The Ministry of Health, on Friday confirmed 43 new cases of COVID-19, the highest registered in a day since the outbreak of the virus in Uganda.
“Uganda has 43 new cases of #COVID19. The total number of cases is now 203. All the 43 cases are truck drivers.” health officials reported.
All the new cases have been confirmed from 1,838 samples of truck cargo truck drivers who entered the country through various border points;
Elegu: 15 Ugandans, 9 Kenyans, 4 Eritreans,
Mutukula: 5 Tanzanians, 1 Burundian,
Malaba: 5 Kenyans, 2 Ugandans, 1 Burundian,
1 nationality unknown.
This brings the total number of confirmed cases i Uganda to 203.
All 720 community samples tested on Friday were negative for COVID-19.
The number of total COVID-19 recoveries is 63, no death yet.
