KAMPALA UGANDA: 26 April 2025- In a bold move to transform the landscape of entrepreneurship in Uganda, the Generating Growth Opportunities and Productivity for Women (GROW) Project is calling for a cultural shift in how society views women’s voices in business and at home.
The GROW Project is a flagship initiative of the Government of Uganda, spearheaded by the Ministry of Gender, Labour, and Social Development (MGLSD) in partnership with the Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU).
Backed by the World Bank, the project is specifically designed to address the unique challenges faced by female entrepreneurs. Its primary objectives include: Increasing the number of women-owned enterprises across the country, Boosting productivity through skills training and technical support, and Enhancing competitiveness to help women-led businesses scale and enter new markets.
The project’s latest campaign emphasizes that economic empowerment doesn’t happen in a vacuum. A powerful new visual released by the project features a woman engaged in technical labor, accompanied by a poignant message for men:
“Men who listen, support, and plan together with women build stronger homes, better businesses, and more peaceful families.”
By advocating for domestic synergy, GROW argues that the “whole family benefits” when a woman’s voice is respected. This holistic approach suggests that the success of a woman-owned business is directly linked to the support system she has at home.
