Kinshasa, DRC – November 29, 2025 The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) under Operation Shujaa launched devastating artillery strikes last weekend, obliterating two Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) camps in the Mambasa territory of the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The “surgical” strikes are reported to have killed dozens of armed terrorists.
Weekend Barrage Targets ADF Strongholds
The artillery strikes were carried out on Saturday, November 22, and Sunday, November 23, 2025. The targeted camps were situated in the Mambasa area, specifically near the village of Babunga and south of the River Epulu.
According to a statement released by Colonel Chris Magezi, the Acting Director of Defence Public Information for MODVA/UPDF, intelligence suggested that ADF leader Musa Baluku may have been present in one of the camps during the strikes. However, his current condition remains unknown.
Heavy Casualties Confirmed
Despite the uncertainty regarding Baluku’s status, reports from civilians living in the area have corroborated intelligence estimates, confirming that the ADF suffered heavy casualties during the latest artillery barrage against their hideout positions.
The artillery attacks are part of the ongoing offensive against the ADF by the Operation Shujaa joint forces, comprising the UPDF and the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC). The relentless pressure from the joint forces is forcing ADF remnants to scatter into small groups across the vast terrain of eastern DRC in an effort to evade capture.
