Primary and Secondary schools will open for the first school term on Monday February 3, 2025 and students will study for 89 days until Friday May 2, 2025 when they shall break for holidays -according to the school calendar released today by the Ministry of Education.
The second term will start on Monday May 26, 2025 and run for 89 days up to Friday August 22, 2025 while the third term will start on Monday September 15, 2025 ending on Friday December 5, 2025.
The 2025 school calendar indicates that the placement of primary seven leavers joining Senior One will run for two days (January 27 and 28th 2025) and Senior One students will report for the first term on February 10, 2025.
On 6th and 7th February it will be placement of Senior Four leavers who will be expected to report for the Senior Five first term on February 24, 2025.
In a circular addressed to all school administrators, local government leaders and RDCs, the Ministry of Education noted that teaching must start promptly at the beginning of each school term and the school terms should not be cut short without prior permission from the Permanent Secretary.
The document reminds school administrators that primary schools must open at 8AM and must close at 4:30PM, 8:00AM to 12:00 for pre-primary schools and 8:00AM to 2:45 for post primary (teachers students contact time).
