The National Resistance Movement Secretary General Hon Kasule Lumumba has announced she will be going into self isolation after her handlers tested positive for COVID-19.
In a statement she posted on social media on Monday, Lumumba said 3 of her handlers with whom she works with at the NRM secretariat yesterday tested positive for COVID-19 prompting her to also take a test.
“I have therefore taken advice from our scientists to immediately enter self-quarantine as a precautionary measure while i wait for results of a rapid test i have had to take” Lumumba wrote.
The news heralds a setback in the NRM camp and president Museveni’s campaign agenda since the secretariat serves as the coordination center for activities of the ruling party.
Lumumba however noted that all the campaign mobilization and coordination activities at the NRM secretariat will continue normally.
This is not the first time the NRM secretariat is hit by the COVID-19 setback. During nominations for party flagbearers last month, the secretariat was closed for two a whole weekend as health workers undertook fumigation of offices after several officers tested positive for COVID-19.
Col. (Rtd) Shaban Bantariza who was an officer at the secretariat also died due to COVID-19.
