The Uganda Police Force in Kampala Metropolitan South is actively investigating two separate fire outbreaks that occurred earlier today including one incident at Kakungulu Memorial School and another one at Entebbe Municipal Headquarters.
According to the police, the first incident was reported at Kakungulu Memorial School in Kibuli, Makindye Division, Kampala City at approximately 12:50 AM, a fire broke out in the boys’ dormitory, which houses around 52 students.
In a statement, Police Deputy Public Relations Officer Kampala Metropolitan ASP Luke Owoyesigyire says Police Fire Prevention and Rescue Services team swiftly responded, preventing further escalation of the fire. Fortunately, no fatalities were recorded. However, one student sustained minor injuries and has since received medical attention.
Owoyesigyire said the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation, and more details will be provided as soon as they become available.
In a separate incident, Police at Entebbe are also investigating a fire outbreak that occurred at the Entebbe Municipality headquarters. It is alleged that, at around 3 am a metallic kiosk, belonging to Ms. Rose and used as a kitchen, caught fire. Thanks to the prompt response of the Police Fire Prevention and Rescue team, the fire was contained before it could spread to nearby structures. Despite this, significant property loss, including cooking equipment and food supplies, was recorded.
Police stated that investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the fire, and further details will be communicated in due course.
