Police reported a serious road accident involving a passenger bus which occurred along the Kampala – Masaka -Mbarara highway.
The incident occured today at around 11:00 at Kyekurura, shortly after Kinoni center in Lwengo District in Greater Masaka when Global bus registration number UBB 985M, rolled of the road and crashing down on its side.
According to SP Kasirye Twaha, the
Public Relations Officer Greater Masaka police, the driver lost control due to the slippery road conditions caused by heavy rain.
“One person sustained serious injuries in the accident. Local authorities and bystanders swiftly responded, transporting the injured individuals to nearby health centers. Ambulances are being awaited to transfer them to Masaka Referral Hospital for further medical attention” Kasirye stated.
“We caution all drivers particularly on slippery roads during this rainy season to avoid speeding to prevent such accidents. Further updates will be provided in due course” The police statement adds.
