Former Minister of Cooperatives and Marketing in Obote II government Yona Kanyomozi is dead.
Yona Kanyomozi died at the age of 82 years and succumbed to cancer at Nakasero Hospital in Kampala.
A legend of the Uganda People’s Congress UPC, Kanyomozi has been battling cancer for a long time.
Besides serving as minister, Kanyomozi also served as a member of the East African Legislative Assembly in Arusha (2001-2006) during the early years of the re-established East African Community.
He was also elected and served in the National Resistance Council (NRC) from 1989 to 1996.
Kanyomozi went into retirement in 2011 after an unsucessful attempt to represent Ntungamo Municipality in parliament as MP.
