KASESE 4 NOVEMBER 2024: The UPDF mountain Division will institute an Board of Inquiry to probe into the shooting incident on Monday after a soldier went on rampage shooting at his fellows and collecting guns.
According to UPDF Mountain Division and operation shujaa spokesperson, Maj Bilal Katamba, RA/251424 Pte Lukwang Isaac of 5 Mountain Battalion based in Rusese in Kasese district entered into a colleague’s house and picked a gun, started shooting randomly and in the process injured a fellow soldier RA/ 251412 Pte Alebu Joel.
“The soldier disappeared and the hunt for him begun. In The morning of Monday 4th Nov 2024 at around 4:00am, he appeared at a UPDF boarder detach at Kamukumbi, where he shot, killed and grabbed a sentry’s gun by the names of RA/ 251171 Pte Kule Solomon” he noted.
The hunt for the rampaging soldier was intensified, and the renegade soldier was put out of action on Monday by a UPDF squad dispatched to disarm him when he shot back at them.
Maj Katamba said the two guns were recovered from the slain soldier and are in safe hands. “The UPDF mountain Division will institute a Board of Inquiry to inquest into the incident” he stated.
