Parliament has welcomed back State Minister for Karamoja Affairs, Hon. Agnes Nandutu who, for weeks, has been on a sick leave away from parliament.
Also Bududa District Woman MP, Agnes Nandutu, a journalist-cum politician, was reported last month to be allegedly bedridden after falling in bathroom. She has also missed several sittings ever since.
While presiding over the sitting this afternoon, the speaker Rt Hon Anita Among, invited Hon. Nandutu to speak to the members regarding her condition.
“Hon. Members, join me in welcoming Hon. Nandutu back into the House. We are happy to have you back,” said Among.
Nandutu informed the House that she didn’t fall in the bathroom as it has been alleged but just felt dizzy and when she was rushed to the hospital, it was discovered that she had a clot in the lungs.
The Bududa woman MP commended fellow legislators for their prayers at the time she was ill.
“Mulago is the best hospital in Uganda. Blood clot in the lungs is a serious thing but with the help of the Health Minister and Director General of Health services I overcome it. Thanks to you all for the prayers. I am out of danger now” added Nandutu.
Nandutu asked lawmakers to always do medical checkups to be able to dedicate any danger saying that maybe if she had also checked early the problem could have been seen onset.
She stressed that undergoing early checkups and having regular exercises can keep one from danger because Mulago has such equipments.
