Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Secretary General, Nandala Mafabi, has poured cold water on the move by Katonga faction leaders to dissolve the FDC party, labeling it’s proponents as masqueraders with no legal rights to do so.
This follows a meeting of FDC delegates allying to the Katonga faction on Monday which among other things resolved to dissolve FDC as the faction leaders move to form a new political party. The interim leadership led by Erias Lukwago and Dr. Kizza Besigye have been at loggerheads with the Najjanankumbi headquarters over ownership of the party.
In a circular released today, Nandala Mafabi challenged the legality of the meeting which passed the resolution on account that it’s conveners; Erias Lukwago and Wasswa Biriggwa are not legally authorized to do so.
“This alleged Party delegates meeting is nothing but a meeting of attention seeking, like minded, disgruntled rabble rousers who should be ignored” Nandala Mafabi stated. He notes that FDC is a duly registered with the Electoral Commission (EC) and whose legal owners file annual returns with EC.
“The public should not be missed by these acts of theatrics, for which Lukwago Erias, the ring leader, has come to be known for everywhere he goes” Mafabi said in relation to Lukwago’s political history from Democratic Party to FDC Katonga where he had recently been nominated to head a faction.
“We wish to clarify that the residents of Kampala Capital City are still recovering from the tragedy of Kiteezi for which Lukwago is squarely liable because of incompetence as a leader. It is surprising that he and city councilors can find time to perpetuate political jokes without first clarifying when they will finally start working to better the lives of the people of Kampala Capital City” he noted.
