Kampala, Uganda – The Electoral Commission (EC) of Uganda has announced a revision to the schedule for the display of the National Voters’ Register and Registers for Special Interest Groups (SIGs) in preparation for the 2025/2026 General Elections.
According to the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Justice Simon Byabakama’s statement issued today, April 15th, 2025, the display of the National Voters’ Register, initially slated to begin on April 17th, 2025, will now commence on April 25th, 2025, and conclude on May 8th, 2025.
Similarly, the display of the Voters Registers for Special Interest Groups, which was previously scheduled to start on April 17th, 2025, and end on April 28th, 2025, has also been rescheduled. This exercise will now take place from April 25th, 2025, to May 15th, 2025.
The Electoral Commission further stated that the period for the display of recommendations on inclusions and deletions arising from the respective Parish Tribunals, in line with Section 26(2) of the Electoral Commission Act, will run from Friday, May 16th, 2025, to Monday, May 26th, 2025, at the respective parishes nationwide.
The Commission, mandated under Article 61 (1)(c) of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda, 1995, and Sections 18 and 20 of the Electoral Commission Act (Cap 176) to compile, maintain, revise, and update the National Voters’ Register, emphasized the importance of this exercise.
Justice Byabakama Mugenyi Simon, appealed to all stakeholders in the electoral process to participate in the display exercise and follow the guidelines that will be issued for the exercise being conducted in preparation for the 2025/2026 General Elections.
