Kawempe North Member of Parliament-elect, Elias Luyimbazi Nalukoola, will finally be sworn in as a duly elected Member of Parliament on Wednesday, following the violent By-election amid speculation over a potential legal battle.
The opposition candidate emerged winner of the polls held on 13th March 2026 but delays to have his victory gazetted to pave way for his swearing in, had left many guessing over what might happen. Today, the NRM candidate Faridah Nambi withdrew a court petition to to challenge Nalukoola’s victory paving way for the swearing in.
In a message posted on X platform on social media, Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon Anita Among ended the speculation about Nalukoola’s swearing in, which will take place tomorrow at 12:00 noon.
“I have received official communication from the @UgandaEC along with a copy of the gazetted results. I will proceed to swear in the Member of Parliament-elect for Kawempe North in my chambers tomorrow at 12:00 noon. I would like to congratulate Erias Nalukoola Luyimbazi on his victory. Anita
