A technical team of engineers conducting a sweep through offices at National Unity Platform (NUP) headquarters have established that Juju-like objects were among several items, allegedly found planted by state operatives during a recent security operation.
Over the weekend, security conducted a raid on both NUP headquarters at Kavule in Kawempe Division but also at their School of Leadership in Kamwokya, blocking access to premises for two days. After regaining access to the premises on Monday, the party leaders now claim they found sophisticated spying gadgets, and juju planted in their offices.
“The technical team has been sweeping our offices since yesterday to try and establish what the goons might have planted at our offices” NUP president, Robert Kyagulanyi noted.
“While it’s difficult to establish, at this point, the full extent of damage, yesterday a GPS tracking device was found hidden behind the light of one of the vehicles we left at the premises, while in my office, they found a small camera and another gadget, the purpose of which we are yet to establish. Sadly, we also found things that looked like fetishes (ebyawongo) hidden under the carpet…” He claims in a message posted on X.
At a press conference on Monday, the NUP leaders strongly condemned last week’s raid on their headquarters calling it a criminal break-in, sanctioned by the regime and commanded by the CDF Gen. Muhoozi Keinerugaba.
They accused state operatives for vandalizing property, stealing computers, cameras, documents, and over 40 million shillings in cash. They also claim the operatives disabled office security systems and took the hard drives containing CCTV footage.
During the weekly press briefing, police indicated that an assortment of evidence was retrieved during the search operation at NUP headquarters. Police couldn’t however verify which type of evidence was retrieved but sources collaborate the raid at NUP offices with the recent incident when party supporters were involved in military-like parade and were heard chanting martial songs.
“As the teams continue to do their work with diligence, we remain unmoved because of the justness of our cause and the correctness of our mission. WE SHALL CERTAINLY OVERCOME.” Kyagulanyi stated in a post on X.
