Dr Frank Nabwiso, a prominent historian, scholar, and politician, has passed away at 84.
Dr Nabwiso breathed his last at Mukono Church of Uganda Hospital after being bedridden for some time.
The veteran politician represented Kagoma County in Parliament from 2001 to 2006 when he was unseated by Fredrick Nkayi in a highly contested race.
In 2021, Dr Nabwiso contested as the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) flagbearer for the Jinja City mayoral seat but his bid was unsuccessful.
At the time of his death, Dr Nabwiso was a member of the FDC’s special Elders’ Council.
He was instrumental in resolving internal party disputes, most notably chairing the committee that probed allegations by Dr Kizza Besigye th FDC leadership’s receipt of government campaign funds for the 2021 general elections.
