Mbale Woman MP Connie Galiwango’s security bolstered amidst Death Threats

Police in Elgon Region today confirmed that Male Woman Hon. Connie Nakayenze Galiwango will receive two police guards as a measure to boost her security following a letter she received last week which contained messages threatening her life.

The new development follows a report that a letter whose source is yet-to-be identified was dropped at the home of Hon. Connie Galiwango with authors threatening to take her life if she did not send 400 million to them.

 According to police, on 5th September 2019, Wangi Moses a 13 year old student while on his way to school saw a man drop a letter at the legislator’s gate.

“Dear honorable Connie, we have been sent to clear you within this week unless you raise four hundred million on this number, 0780723011 N.M” the letter reads in part.

According to the letter which sabasabaupdates has seen, the author(s) refers themselves as her colleagues of Mbale Secondary School 2009-2012.

The authors also noted that the information in the letter is classified and if she tries to reveal it, her kids will also be targeted. They also indicate that they have been trailing her and know the schools where the kids study from.

Police identified and arrested the owner of the telephone indicated in the latter -Moses Wamisi a common man in Namatala Ward Mbale Municipality, but he was later released on orders of Connie Galiwango.

Connie Galiwango, one of the MPs who voted for age-limit removal has severally reported that she is trailed by unknown people whose identity and intention are yet to be established.

 Elgon Police spokesperson Robert Tekuei confirmed the development saying they could not take the threats against the legislator lightly.
