The Acting Leader of the Opposition in Parliament (LOP), Hon Muwanga Kivumbi has called upon all opposition members who may have received the alleged Shs 100 million to return it to the giver.
Hon Kivumbi who is also MP for Butambala county urged the members who publicly condemned the payment to back their words with action by signing a formal resolution affirming they did not receive the funds.
Hon Kivumbi who spoke to the press following an opposition caucus meeting which convened in Parliament issued a challenge earlier today to fellow opposition MPs amid mounting controversy over a 100 million shilling cash disbursement.
It is alleged that on Monday night, MPs received the millions as a gift from President Yoweri Museveni for passing the controversial Coffee Bill and in preparation for the upcoming amendments to the UPDF ACT.
He further announced that a list of those who sign the declaration will be made public to ensure transparency and accountability.
“The public deserves to know the truth. If you claim you didn’t take the money, then put it in writing,” Kivumbi emphasized.
