Arsenal have confirmed that Gabriel Magalhaes has sustained a hamstring injury which requires surgery and he is ruled out of their squad until next season.
Magalhaes was substituted during the Gunner’s match against Fulham on Tuesday in a 2-1 match that shrunk the gap between Arsenal and table leaders -Liverpool to nine points.
“Gabi will undergo a surgical repair procedure to his hamstring in the coming days, and immediately begin his recovery and rehabilitation programme, with the aim to be ready for the start of next season” the latest statement from Arsenal reads.
The North London club has suffered injuries at a crucial moment as their hopes to close the season with a trophy continues to fade away. The Gunners hoped to leverage on Champions League competition for glory but the injury for Magalhaes has dealt them a huge blow.
“Everyone at the club will be fully focused on supporting Gabi to ensure he is back to full fitness as soon as possible.” The statement posted on Thursday adds.
