Minister Kitutu apologizes for diverting Karamoja ironsheets

Minister in charge of Karamoja Affairs Goretti Kitutu has finally apologized for diverting iron sheets meant for Karimojong which ended up in hands of politicians.

Minister Kitutu’s apology comes after reports confirmed that key government officials shared iron sheets which were part of relief items meant for Karamoja region. Reports which have attracted a huge backlash from the pubic indicated that some iron sheets were found in her relatives’ possrssion while others had been used to benefit interests of political players.

In a statement she presented to the Presidential Affairs committee of parliament today, Kitutu expressed remorse for the “embarassment” the saga has caused to high ranking members of President Yoweri Museveni’s cabinet.

In the statement she said was made in her capacity as minister, Kitutu admitted that ironsheets were for Karamoja told members of the presidential affairs committee that she was never guided on how to go about with business.

“Hon chairperson and Honorable colleagues, I pray that you accept and all Ugandans accept my sincere apology” she stated.

“Any inconveniences and embarassment caused are highly regretted” she added.

Kitutu also said she will also present a seperate statement to HE the president and the entire executive.
