Uganda shines at IZMIR International Tourism Expo in Turkey

IZMIR: Uganda shone at the recently concluded Izmir International Tour and Travel Expo that run from 2nd – 4th December 2021 in the Turkish Aegean coast city of Izmir with several Ugandan products on display.

The International Expo was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey and TURSAB Exhibition Services, the 15th Travel Turkey İzmir Tourism Fair brought together tourism professionals from all over the world and afforded an opportunity to have Uganda’s Tourism Potential highly showcased.

Rated Turkey’s largest International Tourism platform, the exhibition brought together over 800 exhibitors and hundreds of thousands of guests from different parts of the world. The exhibition offered sectoral opportunities and established communication and business connections for Uganda.

The staff of the Embassy of Republic of Uganda in Ankara, Turkey led by Ambassador Stephen Mubiru, Head of Mission also participated in the event.

Key connections of sectors beneficial to Uganda included; Hotels & Accommodation, cultural tourism, airline opportunities, travel agencies, business tourism particularly in coffee and fruits, medical tourism, education tourism, active and adventure tourism among others.

Ugandan pineapple and coffee caused a lot of excitement at the Uganda stand and attracted hundreds of thousands of guests and enthusiasts that were served to fresh Uganda pineapple and coffee specially imported from Uganda for the exhibition. Other Ugandan items that were of special interest to guests and other exhibitors were Ugandan hand-made baskets, Ankole cow horns, Ugandan mangoes, and wildlife.

Uganda’s Ambassador to Turkey, Amb Stephen Mubiru, made a key presentation to guests and exhibitors during Uganda’s slot for country presentation and wowed Turkish tourists to Uganda. He also promoted Uganda’s unique trade opportunities and competitive investment climate and potential.

Ugandan exhibitors that travelled for the exhibition include Raw Travel, Gracious Tours & Travel, Next Zenith Tours & Travel as well as Jaskom International which specializes in coffee roasting.
