Disregard the rumours, IGP Ochola is in good health -Police

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Martins Okoth Ochola, is perfoming his office duties normally, and not hospitalized as some media reports claim -police said on Wednesday.

Police however said Ochola developed high blood pressure after receiving news about the sudden demise of his former Deputy, Major General Paul Lokech, but his health condition was effectively managed by both his personal doctor and the police surgeon.

This follows reports circulating on social media indicating that Ochola is in hospital and on oxygen. Concerns over Ochola’s health condition have also been premised on his prolonged absence from public platforms with others speculating over a possible power vaccum in the police leadership.

“We do reiterate that the IGP is not hospitalized as claimed in some media circles. He is in good condition with a back to normal pressure level and has been working throughout the month of September” Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga said.

Enanga says, Ochola can even be reached through his known contacts or upon a visit to his office at Police Headquaters in Nagulu.

On account of ill health, IGP Martins Okoth Ochola, 63 years, missed the requiem mass of Maj Gen Paul Lockech as well as his burial on August 25.

Ever since Ochola has not appeared in public or addressed the media, sparking speculation over his health condition.
