The National Bureau for Non-governmental Organizations NGOs has denounced Bryan White foundation -a philanthropist organization run by city socialite Brian Kirumira aka Bryan White, as one of the organizations operating illegally.
The new development came after the acting Executive Director, Bureau of NGOs Steven Okello appeared before the parliamentary Human rights committee to answer queries relating to the legality and operations of Bryan White Foundation.
Mr. Okello said, the foundation was registered in January of 2019 and since then, it never validated its operational licence. He said, even during the validation period the Internal Affairs ministry conducted in November 2019, the foundation never showed up.
“This organization had all the opportunity to come and sort out itself but it did not” Mr. Okello said.
The probe into operations of Bryan White Foundation and the person of Bryan White, comes after a number of girls recently came out accusing Bryan White for kidnap, rape and sexual harassment.
When asked by MPs on the allegations of torture and sexual harassment from former employees of Bryan White foundation, Okello said the bureau has never received any report of such accusations.
Okello however informed the committee that the board will carry out investigations on Bryan white foundation over the allegations and also take interest in the source of funding to the foundation.
Last week, two girls -Stella Nandawula (22) and Vivan Mutanda, (18) both former employees of the foundation told the committee that they were forcefully held in Brian Whites residence in Buziga, Kampala where they endured exploitation including involving them in group sex orgies against their will.
The committee on Tuesday also received a testimony from Joyce Namirembe -the mother to one of the alleged victims Leticia Nabulime who claims she was defiled by Brian White and impregnated at the age of 17 under similar circumstances.
Namirembe claims her daughter informed her that one day Bryan White organised a party at his home from where he intoxicated the girls (including Leticia) and later gang raped them.
She has also informed the committee that her daughter has been receiving threats from Bryan White telling her to drop the case or else she will be harmed.
