The State House Anti-corruption Unit today arrested 4 Police officers in connection with a land dispute and an illegal land eviction in Kasanda District.

ASP Owellano Daniel the DPC Kasanda, SSP Wanyama Wilber Ostin the Regional CID officer Wamala Region, ASP Beitera Peter the O.C CID Kasanda, and in-charge CID Records Wamala Region Sgt. Azale, were arrested on orders of Lt. Col. Edith Nakalema.

In a statement released today, Lt. Col Edith Nakalema, the head of state House Anti-corruption Unit, investigations implicate the officers in cases of mismanagement of files, professional misconduct, and conspiracy to defeat justice.

The cases arise from an illegal land eviction in Bikompe Village, Kasanda District, in which goons allegedly working on orders of city tycoon Abid Alam carried out an illegal eviction in which several criminal acts were committed.

The Nakalema led Unit on Thursday arrested Abid Alam on allegations of malicious damage, aggravated torture, gang rape among others.

Nakalema says that once investigations are concluded, these officers will charged accordingly.

The locals accuse Abid Alam of forcibly evicting them and destroying their property in a land dispute that has spanned for years.
